The 1991-1992 Porsche 911 964 Turbo was a high-performance variant of the 964 generation 911. It featured a twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 320 horsepower and 313 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-60mph time of around 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 173mph.
The exterior design included a distinctive rear spoiler and flared fender arches to accommodate the larger tires. The interior was updated with new ergonomic seats, a revised dashboard, and improved soundproofing. A five-speed manual transmission or an optional Tiptronic automatic transmission were available.
Standard equipment included anti-lock brakes (ABS), power steering, and 16-inch alloy wheels shod in 225/50VR16 tires. The Turbo model also featured Pirelli PZero high-performance tires on the rear axle.
The 964 Turbo's engine was based on the Carrera engine but with a pair of KKK turbochargers, which greatly increased its power output. The car's handling and braking capabilities were significantly improved compared to earlier 911 models due to the revised suspension geometry and larger brakes.
Despite being relatively rare and expensive when new, the 964 Turbo has developed a loyal following among Porsche enthusiasts and collectors over time.
