The Ferrari 550 Maranello is a grand tourer produced by Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari. It was first presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1996 and built until 2001.
The 550 Maranello has a long hood, short rear deck, and rounded fenders that give it a distinctive look similar to its predecessor, the Daytona. This model is based on the Testarossa's mechanical platform but with significant updates. The engine used is a 5.5-liter V12 from Ferrari that produces 485 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.
The transmission choice in this car involves a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual, the former being designed to give smoother acceleration and better fuel economy while the latter provides more driver engagement. A unique feature of this model is its use of an electronic ignition system with a dedicated computer system for the engine management that helps maintain performance at high speeds.
Inside, the 550 Maranello features two bucket seats in the front made from leather which can be heated and ventilated to provide comfort to both driver and passenger. The car also comes equipped with an infotainment system that includes a radio cassette player, a CD player, and a digital display for various parameters such as speed, fuel level, and temperature.
Safety features include dual airbags for the front seats and side impact protection for increased occupant safety during accidents.
