The Volkswagen Polo is a subcompact car produced by German automaker Volkswagen since 1975. It has undergone six generations of production and has been sold in over 100 countries worldwide.
First Generation (1975-1981)
The first-generation Polo was launched in March 1975 as a successor to the VW Type 3, which was no longer being produced due to rising emissions regulations. The initial model featured a 1.1L engine and a four-speed manual transmission. In 1976, a two-door sedan variant was added, followed by a three-door hatchback in 1978.
Second Generation (1981-1994)
The second-generation Polo was launched in 1981 with a more aerodynamic design and improved fuel efficiency. The new model featured a range of engines, including the 1.3L, 1.7L, and 1.9L gasoline units, as well as a 1.5L diesel option.
Third Generation (1994-2002)

Sixth Generation (2017-Present)
The sixth-generation Polo was launched in 2017 with a more aggressive design inspired by the GTI model. The new model features a range of engines, including the 1.0L TSI, 1.4L TSI, and 2.0L TDI gasoline units, as well as a range of trim levels, including the Polo S, SE, GT, R-Line, and Highline.
