The 2019 Subaru Ascent is a three-row midsize crossover SUV that serves as the brand's largest model. It was unveiled in May 2018 and went on sale in the United States later that year. The Ascent is built on a new platform shared with the Toyota Aviator, but it retains Subaru's signature all-wheel-drive system.

Dimensions

  • Length: 198.1 inches (5,021 mm)
  • Width: 75.9 inches (1,926 mm)
  • Height: 66.5 inches (1,688 mm)
  • Wheelbase: 117 inches (2,978 mm)

Powertrain

The Ascent is powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer-four engine, producing 260 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 277 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm. The engine is paired with an eight-speed CVT transmission and all-wheel drive as standard. Front-wheel drive is available on base models without the optional all-wheel-drive system.

Interior

The Ascent's interior features a premium feel with available leather-trimmed upholstery, heated front seats, and 18-way power driver seat. The third-row seats can accommodate three passengers comfortably. An available panoramic moonroof and a dual-zone climate control system add to the vehicle's comfort features.

Safety Features

The Ascent is equipped with Subaru's EyeSight driver-assist system, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, sway warning, and pre-collision braking. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2019 Ascent a perfect five-star overall safety rating.

Infotainment System

The Ascent offers an available StarLink infotainment system with a high-resolution touchscreen display, navigation, Bluetooth hands-free phone and streaming audio, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system.

Trims

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is offered in three trim levels: Base, Premium, Limited, Touring. The Base model serves as the entry-level variant with standard features such as the turbocharged boxer-four engine, all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed CVT transmission. The Premium trim adds convenience and tech features like heated seats, power liftgate, and a larger touchscreen display. The Limited trim is the top-of-the-line model, featuring premium interior materials, LED steering responsive headlights, and a hands-free power liftgate.

Fuel Economy

The 2019 Subaru Ascent achieves an estimated EPA rating of up to 21 MPG in combined driving, with a city/highway/combined rating of 18/24/20 mpg for front-wheel-drive models and 17/23/19 mpg for all-wheel-drive variants. The vehicle's engine is designed for efficiency and produces less emissions compared to traditional V6 engines.

Warranty

The Ascent comes with Subaru's standard 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Additionally, the company offers a 3-year/36,000-mile maintenance package that covers routine maintenance needs like oil changes and tire rotations.
