The Peugeot Partner is a panel van and compact MPV (Multi-Functional Vehicle) produced by the French manufacturer Peugeot. It was first launched in 1995 and has undergone three generations of production since then.
First Generation (1995-2000)
The original Peugeot Partner was a front-wheel drive, rear-engined van with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine producing 60 horsepower. It had a carrying capacity of around 700 kg (1,543 lbs) and was available in three body lengths: standard, long, and an extended version for the UK market.
Second Generation (2000-2008)
The second-generation Partner featured a more modern design with a more angular front grille and revised interior. The engine options were expanded to include a 1.4-liter diesel unit producing 75 horsepower and a 1.6-liter gasoline engine generating 90 horsepower. This generation saw the introduction of an extended length version for Europe, which boasted additional storage capacity.
Third Generation (2008-2015)
The third-generation Partner adopted Peugeot's new design language, with a more rounded front grille and a revised rear end. It offered improved fuel efficiency, with the 1.4-liter diesel engine producing 65 horsepower and achieving an estimated 10 km/l in combined driving conditions.
Fourth Generation (2016-present)
The current generation of Partner, now available as a van, crew van, people carrier, or panel van, features advanced technology such as LED headlights, touchscreen infotainment systems, and comprehensive safety features like automatic emergency braking. Its engine options range from 1.2-liter gasoline units to more powerful 1.6-liter diesel engines.
Key Features:
- Payload capacity: up to 745 kg (1,642 lbs)
- Engine options: 1.2L gasoline, 1.5L e-HDi and 1.6L diesel
- Transmission options: manual and automatic gearboxes
- Interior space: variable depending on configuration; 3.7 cubic meters of storage capacity in the van model
- Fuel efficiency (WLTP): up to 8 km/l combined for some versions
In many markets, including Europe, the Peugeot Partner is offered alongside its sister models - the Citroën Berlingo and the Opel/Vauxhall Combo – sharing a common platform, engine options, and interior features. However, it continues to maintain its identity through various styling cues and a range of trim levels tailored for different customer preferences.
