The Maserati GranTurismo is a grand tourer produced by Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Maserati. It was first unveiled in 2007 and has undergone two significant updates since then.
Design and Features
The GranTurismo boasts a sleek, curvaceous design with a long hood, short overhangs, and a sloping roofline that evokes the spirit of classic Italian sports cars. The car's shape is dominated by a pair of air intakes on the front fenders, which provide cooling for the engine. The interior features premium leather upholstery, an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Harman Kardon sound system.
Engine and Performance
The GranTurismo was initially offered with two V8 engine options: a 4.7-liter unit producing 405 horsepower (302 kW) in the MC version, and a 4.2-liter variant producing 400 horsepower (298 kW). However, for the 2019 update, Maserati switched to a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 570 horsepower (425 kW), paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Drive System
The GranTurismo features all-wheel drive as standard across all variants, ensuring exceptional traction and stability in various driving conditions. This system includes a transfer case that distributes power between the front and rear axles to maximize grip and handling capabilities.
Chassis and Suspension
The car's chassis is composed of high-strength steel and aluminum components, providing an ideal balance between stiffness, weight distribution, and crashworthiness. The suspension features double wishbones with adaptive damping to ensure responsive handling and a smooth ride.
Dimensions and Weight
The GranTurismo measures 191 inches (4,854 mm) in length, 76 inches (1,932 mm) in width, and 54 inches (1,372 mm) in height. Its curb weight ranges from approximately 3,950 pounds (1,790 kg) for the MC to around 3,750 pounds (1,703 kg) for the Trofeo.
Top Speed and Acceleration
The GranTurismo accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in approximately 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 183 mph (295 km/h).
