Koenigsegg Regera Generation 1
The Koenigsegg Regera Generation 1 was a high-performance hybrid supercar produced by Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg. It was first introduced in 2016 and continued production until 2022.
Design and Chassis:
The Regera's design was characterized by its sleek, aerodynamic bodywork with active spoilers, air curtains, and diffusers to enhance downforce and reduce drag. The chassis was constructed from a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum, providing exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. Wheelbase was 2780 mm, while track widths were 1720 mm (front) and 1745 mm (rear).
Powertrain:
The Regera was powered by a 5.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine producing 1500 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 1000 lb-ft of torque from 2500 to 6500 rpm. This engine was coupled to a compact, high-performance electric motor that added an additional 300 kW (402 horsepower) for a combined output of 2000 horsepower. The transmission was an 8-speed, semi-automatic with paddle-shift capabilities.
Electrification and Performance:
The Regera featured Koenigsegg's advanced Infrared system, which utilized a network of solar panels to recharge the battery. This allowed the car to achieve impressive performance figures:
- Acceleration:
- 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h): 2.8 seconds
- 0-186 mph (0-300 km/h): 10.4 seconds
- Top Speed: Electronically limited to 248 mph (399 km/h)
- Range: Approximately 31 miles (50 kilometers) on electric power alone
Interior and Features:
The Regera's interior was designed with driver-centric ergonomics in mind, featuring a sport-oriented steering wheel, carbon fiber seats, and an advanced digital instrument cluster. An infotainment system provided access to various settings, navigation, and performance data.
Safety Features:
- Dual-stage airbags
- Electronic stability control
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
- Traction control
Production Numbers and Variants:
The Regera Generation 1 was produced in limited quantities during its production run from 2016 to 2022. Variants included the base model, the "Elegua" trim level introduced in 2019 with distinctive design elements and upgraded features.
Price Range (Original MSRP):
- Base Model: Approximately $2 million USD
- Elegua Variant: Approximately $2.7 million USD
