The Ferrari 599 GTB was a grand tourer produced by Ferrari from 2006 to 2012. The car featured an all-aluminum spaceframe chassis and a mid-mounted V12 engine producing 612 horsepower at 7,600 rpm. A six-speed F1-style transmission and four-wheel steering were standard features.
The first-generation 599XX was a track-only variant of the 599 GTB, developed by Ferrari's Corse Clienti program to provide owners with a competitive racing platform. The car made its public debut in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Mechanical specifications included a modified version of the 6.0-liter V12 engine from the 599 GTB, producing around 750 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and generating 470 lb-ft of torque at 7,500 rpm. A lightweight six-speed gearbox with semi-automatic paddle-shift was used to transmit power to the rear wheels.
Aerodynamic enhancements featured a new front splitter, side skirts, and an adjustable rear wing that provided up to 1,100 pounds of downforce at high speeds. Braking was handled by massive carbon-carbon disc brakes measuring 15 inches (380 mm) in diameter at the front and 14.2 inches (360 mm) at the rear.
The interior was stripped of most standard features, with a minimalist design that focused on driver safety and comfort during extended racing sessions. A bespoke racing seat, F1-style steering wheel, and a central display screen were among the few features retained for practicality and functionality.
Only 39 examples of the first-generation 599XX were produced between 2009 and 2012, with each car costing approximately €2 million (around $2.3 million USD at that time). A price tag of over $3 million when adjusted for inflation would place it in a unique niche among high-performance exotic supercars.
