The Ferrari 599 GTO (Gran Turismo Omologato) was a limited-edition production model that paid homage to the company's rich racing heritage. Unveiled in 2010, it was the final evolution of the 599 GTB range and was built to celebrate Ferrari's successes in the F1 World Championship.
Design and Features:
The 599 GTO retained the same sleek and aggressive design language as its predecessors, with a few subtle tweaks to differentiate it from the standard 599 GTB.
Its bodywork featured a unique front bumper with a larger air intake, while the side sills were revised for improved aerodynamics.
A vented rear diffuser and a GTO-specific spoiler contributed to the car's exceptional downforce generation capabilities.
Powertrain:
Under the hood, Ferrari engineers upgraded the 599 GTB's 6.0-liter V12 engine to produce an additional 13 horsepower, taking its output to 660 horsepower at 8,000 rpm.
Torque remained unchanged at 485 lb-ft (661 Nm), but the GTO's exhaust system and revised intake helped to optimize power delivery across the rev range.
Performance:
The 599 GTO accelerated from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, while its top speed was electronically limited to 205 mph (330 km/h).
Its exceptional acceleration capabilities were complemented by a highly rigid and finely tuned chassis that allowed for razor-sharp handling on both road and track.
Special Edition:
To honor Ferrari's F1 successes in the year 2010, only 50 units of the 599 GTO were produced with a special '60F1' badge to commemorate the occasion.
These special-edition cars featured a unique combination of Rosso Corsa paintwork and black leather interiors.
Production and Price:
Production of the Ferrari 599 GTO was limited, with just 94 units built for worldwide distribution.
The base price for the 599 GTO in Europe was approximately €215,000, although prices have fluctuated over time due to market demand and scarcity.
