Overview
The BMW 3 Series G20/G21/G28 is a range of compact executive sedans and wagons produced by German luxury automobile manufacturer BMW. The G20 (saloon) was unveiled in June 2018, while the G21 (touring wagon) followed shortly after in October 2019. The G28 (coupe) variant was introduced later, in May 2022.
Design and Features
The G20/G21/G28 models are built on a new CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform, which is also used for the larger BMW 5 Series. This shared architecture enables improved crashworthiness, reduced emissions, and enhanced interior space. The sedans feature a more pronounced front-end design with LED headlights and a distinctive kidney grille.
- Interior: The G20/G21's cockpit has been thoroughly redesigned to provide better ergonomics, an expanded infotainment system (optionally 12.3-inch touchscreen), and improved comfort features such as wireless charging for smartphones.

- Saloon: Wheelbase length increased by 53 mm; overall length of the vehicle extends to 4,639 mm.
- Touring wagon: Wheelbase length is at 2,874 mm; vehicle overall length reaches up to 4,646 mm.
- Powertrain options: The lineup includes various engine and transmission combinations:
- Petrol units:
- A range of inline-four (2.0L turbo) and six-cylinder engines with varying horsepower outputs from 255 hp upwards to the M340i's 382 hp.
- These powerplants combine with either a standard eight-speed Steptronic or an optional eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
Trim Levels
The G20/G21/G28 models are offered in different trim levels to cater to diverse customer preferences:
- 320d, 330i (petrol) and M340i variants: These come with a standard rear-wheel drive configuration but can be optionally ordered as all-wheel drive.
- 320d xDrive, 330i xDrive models (petrol): Available only in saloon form, these feature an enhanced all-wheel-drive system.
Notable Features

Warranty and Maintenance
BMW guarantees the G20/G21/G28 models for a period of 3 years. The vehicle's battery warranty is valid for up to 8 years. Additionally, the manufacturer covers wear parts within this initial guarantee period.
