The Bentley Flying Spur Generation 3 is a luxury sedan produced from 2019 to 2024. It was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and represents the third generation of the model.
Design and Features
The exterior design has undergone significant revisions, with a more aggressive front fascia featuring active grille shutters, LED headlights with matrix technology, and an enlarged air intake. The rear features revised LED taillights and a new bumper. The overall dimensions have increased slightly to 5,261 mm in length.
Inside, the cabin receives updates, including a new dashboard design with a higher-resolution infotainment system controlled by Bentley's Myrrh console. Leather seats are standard, and optional upgrades include diamond quilting and a massage function for driver and passenger. Rear legroom increases due to more rear-seat packaging space.
Performance
The 2019 model year introduces two engine options: the W12 and a V8 hybrid. The 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 produces 635 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and maintains its all-wheel-drive configuration. A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine generates 542 horsepower in the Flying Spur V8 variant, paired with a 17.3 kWh battery pack to create a hybrid system, allowing for electric-only propulsion.
Transmission and Performance
Both engines are mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The W12 achieves 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, while the V8 Hybrid takes 4.6 seconds to accomplish the same feat. Top speed for both models is electronically limited to 207 mph (for the W12) and 203 mph for the hybrid.
Safety and Driver Assistance
A suite of advanced safety features includes adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, and park assist. The Flying Spur also offers blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and a heads-up display.
Model Lineup
The Bentley Flying Spur was offered in several trim levels during its production run:
- Flying Spur: Starting with the basic model, which comes equipped with the V8 engine.
- Flying Spur First Edition: A special edition model featuring unique design elements and a more powerful W12 engine, producing 635 horsepower.
- Flying Spur Mulliner: The top-of-the-line trim offers bespoke interior options and comes with an increased power output of 635 horsepower from its W12 engine.
Production End
The third-generation Flying Spur ended production in 2024 to make way for the upcoming fourth-generation model, which promises significant updates.
