Design and Features
The second-generation Bentley Continental GT Convertible (GTC) V8 was launched in 2011 but its peak sales were during the 2012-2018 period. It featured a sleeker design compared to its predecessor, with more aggressive lines, a larger grille, and elliptical headlamps. The convertible top was made of a lightweight material for better performance.
Powertrain
The GTC V8 came equipped with an 8-cylinder engine that produced 567 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque at 1,700 rpm in its standard guise. This engine option allowed the vehicle to go from 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds and reach a top speed electronically limited to 188 mph.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the car featured premium leather upholstery on its seats, which were adjustable for comfort. The interior design was elegant with numerous high-tech features including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, voice control, and a dual-zone climate control system. It also had rearview camera assistance for parking.
Safety Features
The GTC V8 had advanced safety features such as electronic stability control, anti-lock braking (ABS), hill start assist, traction control, and seatbelt pretensioners as standard equipment. Additionally, the car was equipped with various airbags, including side, curtain, and knee airbags for enhanced protection in the event of an accident.
Performance and Handling
The Continental GTC V8 boasted a powerful engine that allowed it to handle corners sharply due to its stability control system. It also featured adaptive damping and torque vectoring for better handling dynamics and stability on different road surfaces. The car was designed to offer comfort while still being capable in handling situations.
Dimensions
The dimensions of the Continental GTC V8 made it a substantial vehicle, measuring 205 inches in length, 78 inches in width, and 54 inches in height. It had a wheelbase of 120 inches, making it spacious enough for occupants but not particularly compact due to its grandeur and luxury feel.
Other Details
The Continental GTC V8 was designed as an ultra-luxurious convertible. Its interior featured premium materials such as wood trim and Alcantara inserts. The car also offered various customization options through Bentley's Mulliner division, allowing owners to personalize their vehicles with bespoke designs.
