Yamaha Camshaft Replacement

I'm replacing my camshafts on a '90 FJ1100 and I'm looking for advice from experienced mechanics. The bike's had some high mileage put on it and it's been showing signs of wear in the upper end. Has anyone else out there replaced their camshafts, and if so, what were some things to watch out for? What kind of costs am I likely looking at, and are there any particular parts or tools that are recommended for this job?
