Upgrading from 1.8L to 2.0L Engine in the Mk2 Golf

I'm considering upgrading my Mk2 Golf's engine from a 1.8L to a 2.0L unit, looking for advice on feasibility and potential modifications needed, as well as any performance improvements or drawbacks to expect, in terms of both power output and fuel efficiency.
