Why Does My 2012 Toyota Corolla Have a Squeaky Brake Pad?

I'm experiencing a high pitched squealing noise when I apply the brakes in my 2012 Toyota Corolla. The sound is loud and persistent, even after driving for a while. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've checked the brake fluid level and it's at the recommended minimum, but I'd like to know if there's any other possible cause.
