I've had my Subaru Outback for 5 years with minimal issues, but routine maintenance costs around $1,000 annually. Timing belt replacement at 100k was a significant expense, but overall I'm pleased with the reliability and performance of the vehicle.

I've owned my 2015 Outback for 6 years now and I can attest to the fact that maintenance costs are relatively low compared to some of the other brands out there. My wife has a Honda CR-V and her maintenance bills are consistently higher than mine. However, I do have to replace my timing chain at around 90k miles which will be a significant expense. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their Subaru's?

I've had my 2015 Forester serviced at local dealerships and independent shops with comparable pricing. Routine maintenance seems relatively affordable, but more complex repairs like timing chain replacements can get pricey, especially if you don't shop around.

I've owned my 2015 Forester for 6 years now and have to say that maintenance costs have been relatively low. I average around $300-$400 per year in oil changes, tires, and other regular maintenance. However, when the boxer engine finally needed a timing chain replacement at 100k miles it was a different story. The total bill came out to be around $2,000, which was a bit of a shock. On the plus side, my Subie still runs like a top after that repair and I've had no issues with the transmission or any other major components.
