I've owned a Forester for 5 years and recently test drove an Impreza with CVT. Noticing the Forester's consistent MPG (25-28 city) compared to the Impreza's variable results (20-30 city), wondering if anyone else has similar experiences with Subaru models' fuel efficiency?

I've owned a Forester and a Crosstrek, and I'm shocked at how similar their fuel economy is - averaging around 25-30 MPG combined. However, my friend's Impreza tends to get around 32-35 MPG on the highway, so there might be some variation depending on model year and trim level.

I've been driving a 2015 Outback for years and was surprised to find that my friend's 2020 Forester is actually more fuel-efficient despite having a larger engine. I think this might be due to the Forester's lighter weight and better aerodynamics. Has anyone else noticed similar results when comparing the fuel economy of different Subaru models?
