Skoda Superb vs Volkswagen Passat - which one to choose?

I'm considering replacing my ageing Octavia with a new Superb and while researching I came across the Passat. Both seem to offer similar features and size but I'd like to hear from fellow Skoda enthusiasts about their experiences with both cars, in particular how they compare in terms of comfort, reliability and value for money.
