I've been doing my own oil changes on my Porsche Cayman for years and can attest to how easy it is with the right tools and knowledge. I recently replaced my engine oil with Motul 8100 and changed the filter too, great performance and fuel efficiency noticed afterwards.

I've been doing my own oil changes on my '05 Cayman for years now and I have to say that it's not as difficult as people make it out to be. The real challenge is getting access to the oil drain plug which is located at the bottom of the car near the rear axle. A couple of things to keep in mind when doing your own oil change: first, make sure you get the correct type of filter for your engine, some of the aftermarket ones can cause problems down the line. Second, use a torque wrench to tighten the filter as not to strip the threads. Also, it's worth noting that you don't need to break the bank on Porsche-branded oil and filters. There are plenty of good alternatives out there that will get the job done just as well.

I've been following this thread with great interest as I'm due to change my 911's engine oil soon. Has anyone used the latest 0W-40 synthetic oil in their Porsche? What were your experiences with it? Also, what kind of filter do I need for a 2015 Carrera S? Is there any difference between the standard and high-performance filters?

I wanted to share my recent experience with changing the engine oil and filter in my 911. I took it to a local shop that specializes in Porsches and was impressed by their knowledge and efficiency. They used the correct type of oil for my car and also replaced the air filter, which made a noticeable difference in performance. The total cost came out to be around $250, which I thought was reasonable considering the quality of the service. The mechanic told me that it's recommended to do this every 5,000 miles or so, depending on how you drive. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their Porsche? What are your thoughts on the importance of regular oil changes and filter replacements?

I've been doing my own oil changes on my 911 GT3 for years now, and I highly recommend using the correct type of oil specified by Porsche. Don't skimp on the quality, it's worth the extra cost to keep your engine running smoothly!

I just completed an oil change and filter replacement on my 911 GT3 with Motul 300V. The process was straightforward but I did notice a slight improvement in performance after using this specific oil type, which is recommended by Porsche themselves.

I always do my own oil changes and filter replacements on my Porsche. It's surprisingly easy and cost-effective. The manual actually provides a detailed guide for each engine type, making it a breeze to follow along with.

I recently changed the engine oil in my 911 Carrera S with 15k miles on it. I used Motul 8100 NP and replaced the OEM filter with a Wix 51360. The car is now running smoother than ever, and the performance has increased noticeably.

I recently performed an engine oil change and filter replacement on my 911 and used Motul 8100 5W-40. The process was straightforward but I found that the manual recommended using a special tool to remove the drain plug which I didn't have.

I recently had my 911's engine oil changed at an authorized Porsche dealership and I was surprised by how thorough the process was. They not only replaced the oil filter but also inspected the entire engine for any signs of wear or damage. The cost was around $200 which I thought was reasonable considering the complexity of the engine. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their Porsche?

I've been doing my own oil changes on my Porsche Cayman for a few years now, and I have to say it's become second nature. The manual is pretty clear on the procedure, but I always double-check the torque specs just to be sure. One thing that caught me off guard initially was how much oil the engine actually takes - 5.5 quarts for mine, and it's a real pain to get all of it back in there without spilling some. The filter is relatively easy to replace, but I've found that getting a new one with a tighter seal is worth the extra cost. Has anyone else had any issues with their oil changes or filter replacements?

I recently changed my 911's engine oil and filter myself and was surprised at how easy it was. I used the recommended oil type and viscosity specified in the owner's manual and followed a YouTube tutorial for guidance. The process took about an hour to complete and saved me around $150 in labor costs. The new oil filter was surprisingly cheap, only costing me around $15. Overall, I'm happy with the results and will be doing it myself from now on.

I just had my 911's oil changed at the local dealership. The tech recommended using synthetic oil due to high mileage on the engine. He also replaced the air filter which was dirty and clogged. The car runs smoother now. Has anyone else done this?

I recently had my 911's engine oil changed at a local shop using the correct specification of 0W-40 synthetic oil. They also replaced the air filter with a new one from the OEM supplier. The price was reasonable and the work was done efficiently. I've been using the same type of oil for over 50,000 miles without any issues. Has anyone else had similar experiences or do you have a preferred oil change schedule?

Just changed my 911 GT3's engine oil and filter. Used the recommended synthetic blend and a high-performance filter. The car feels even more responsive now. Anyone else have experience with the new Porsche oil change intervals?

I've been doing my own oil changes on my 911 since I got it and found that using synthetic oil helps to maintain optimal engine performance even at high temperatures. It's also worth noting that replacing the air filter every 15k miles makes a noticeable difference in power and responsiveness.

I just had my Cayman's engine oil changed with synthetic oil and replaced the air filter at 30k miles, noticed a decent improvement in engine performance and responsiveness, wondering if others have similar experiences or recommendations for this specific model.

I just had my Porsche serviced at the dealership and I wanted to chime in on this thread. They recommended using Motul 300V synthetic oil for my Cayman S, which has a dry-sump system. The tech also swapped out the air filter with a high-performance one from K&N. He said it made a noticeable difference in engine performance and responsiveness. Has anyone else tried these products or have other recommendations?

I've been following this thread with great interest as I recently had my Porsche serviced by an independent mechanic. He recommended using a synthetic oil specifically designed for high-performance engines like mine. The cost was around $150 for the oil change and filter replacement. My car's manual recommends changing the oil every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. Has anyone else had similar experiences with their Porsche engine oil changes?

I recently had my oil changed at a local dealership and was surprised to find out that they used a synthetic blend oil instead of the recommended full synthetic oil specified by Porsche. I asked them why and they said it's because the synthetic blend is cheaper and still meets the minimum requirements. As a concerned owner, I would like to know if this is acceptable practice among Porsche owners and if anyone has experienced any issues with using synthetic blend oil in their 911.
