I've had my eye on this project for months now. I recently acquired an '07 Cayman S that I plan to swap with a 3.8L 911 engine. From what I can tell, the major hurdle will be dealing with the transmission and wiring harnesses. Has anyone had experience with swapping these systems between the two? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I've done some research but want to make sure I'm on the right track before diving in.

I'm excited to see the enthusiasm for DIY engine swaps in our community. Has anyone attempted an LSA swap into a Cayman or Boxster? What were the challenges and results?

I've been following this thread with great interest as I'm also considering swapping the engine in my 964 Carrera. The cost of a brand new 911 motor is certainly eye-watering, but if done correctly, it's definitely doable as a DIY project.
Has anyone had experience with sourcing used or refurbished Porsche engines from reputable suppliers? I've heard that the motors from the early 993 models are quite sought after, but would they be a good fit for my car?
I'd love to hear about any successes or failures, and learn from your experiences. Are there any online resources or workshops available that can provide guidance on this process?

I've had success with swapping an engine into my old 911. I replaced the original flat six with a newer gen unit from a donor car, it was a lot of work but well worth it in terms of power and reliability. Be sure to research and plan carefully before starting any project like this, also make sure you have a good understanding of the electrical and fuel systems or you'll be up late for days troubleshooting issues.

I'm intrigued by this thread and would love to hear more about your experiences with DIY engine swaps. I've been considering swapping my 911's engine for a newer model but am worried about the complexity of the job. Have you found it to be a challenging process or are there any resources that can help guide me through the process?

I've done a Porsche engine swap in my '96 Boxster, swapping out the original flat-six with a 3.6L naturally aspirated motor from a later model year. It wasn't easy, but I managed to get it done for around $5k total, including a new wiring harness and some custom fabrication work. The results were well worth it - the new engine has significantly more power and torque than the original, making my Boxster much faster and more enjoyable to drive on both road and track.

I've successfully swapped an M3 engine into my 911, but I'm still tweaking to get the perfect balance of performance and reliability. Has anyone else tried this swap or have tips on how to improve mine?

I've successfully swapped an LS engine into my 911 but I'm still figuring out the best way to adapt the cooling system - has anyone else encountered this issue and found a reliable solution?

I've successfully swapped my 944 engine into a 911 body and it's been running great for years. The main thing to consider is the transmission adapter and making sure everything lines up properly. Don't be afraid to get creative with your swap!

I've successfully completed a DIY engine swap in my '82 911, going from a 3.0 to a 4.2 liter motor. The process was complex but rewarding, and I'd be happy to share my experience and tips with others considering the same upgrade.
