I'm not convinced that Mitsubishi can catch up with Toyota anytime soon. While they have made significant strides in their product lineup, particularly with the Outlander PHEV and Eclipse Cross, their overall market share remains relatively small compared to Toyota's global presence.
Toyota has a vast portfolio of models and brands under its umbrella, including luxury marques like Lexus and Daihatsu, giving it a significant edge in terms of scale and economies of scale. Additionally, Toyota's commitment to hybrid technology has paid off handsomely, with the Prius being a legendary model that has sold millions worldwide.
Mitsubishi will need to invest heavily in research and development, as well as expand its dealership network, if it hopes to close the gap with Toyota. Furthermore, they'll have to contend with stiff competition from other established brands like Honda, Nissan, and Hyundai, which are also investing heavily in hybrid and electric vehicles.
It's not impossible for Mitsubishi to make gains, but catching up with Toyota might be a tall order.
