I'm quite surprised that the 4G63 engine hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread. In my opinion, it's one of the best engines ever produced by Mitsubishi, known for its reliability and durability. I've owned a few cars with this engine and never had any major issues. The power delivery is also very smooth and linear, making it a joy to drive. While it may not be as powerful as some of the newer engines, its overall package makes it hard to beat in terms of a balanced driving experience.

I've always been a fan of the 6G72 engine in the Eclipse. It's so reliable and has plenty of power for its size, making it perfect for a daily driver or a fun weekend car. What are some of your favorite Mitsubishi engines?

I'm a big fan of Mitsubishis and I think their best engine is hands down the 2.0L Mivec turbo found in some of the Lancer Evolution models. The way it combines power and efficiency is unmatched. In my opinion, the DOHC 4G63 was also an amazing engine for its time, providing a great balance between performance and reliability. However, when comparing to modern engines, I think the Skyactiv-g turbo found in some of the Outlander PHEV models takes the cake. It's incredibly efficient and still manages to deliver plenty of power. The new 2.0L MIVEC engine also looks very promising, offering improved fuel efficiency and a smoother ride. But overall, I think the Skyactiv-g is still one of the best Mitsubishi engines out there.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the 2.5L Mivec engine in their list, it's an often overlooked gem that provided decent fuel economy and sufficient power for most drivers.

I'm a big fan of Mitsubishi's turbocharged Mivec engines. In my opinion, they're one of the most underrated powerplants on the market. The way they produce seamless power and torque is incredibly impressive, especially in vehicles like the Lancer Evolution and Galant VR-4. While some might argue that the newer inline-six engines are better, I think the Mivec's unique design gives it a distinct advantage. It's also relatively low-maintenance compared to other turbocharged engines on the market. One thing to consider is that the Mivec engines were often paired with somewhat outdated transmissions in older Mitsubishis. However, when combined with newer automatics or manual gearboxes, they really come into their own. Overall, I think Mitsubishi's Mivec engine deserves more love and recognition as one of the best powerplants ever made.

I've always been a fan of the 6G72 engine found in the Galant VR-4. That thing was a beast, producing over 230 horsepower and making the car incredibly fast for its time. But I think it's worth mentioning that some people have had issues with the 4G63 engine, which was used in the Lancer Evolution. While it's a great engine, it can be prone to oil leaks and other problems if not properly maintained.

I've always been impressed by the 6G72 engine in the Eclipse. Its balance of power and fuel efficiency made it a standout among its competitors at the time. The DOHC design and dual intake valves helped to provide a smooth and responsive driving experience, even with a relatively modest displacement of 2 liters.

I'm surprised to see the 2.0L Mivec engine not mentioned more often in this discussion. It's proven itself to be a reliable and efficient choice for many Mitsubishi models. What are your thoughts on its performance compared to other options?

The 6G72 inline-six engine found in the Galant VR-4 is often considered one of the best engines ever produced by Mitsubishi, offering exceptional balance and refinement, making it a standout choice for enthusiasts looking for a high-performance driving experience.
