Upgrading Suspension: Pros and Cons Discussed

As some of you may know, I've been considering upgrading my Land Rover's suspension to improve its on-road handling and off-road capabilities. Before taking the plunge, I'd like to hear from others who have already made this change. What are the pros and cons of upgrading your Landy's suspension? Have any of you noticed significant improvements in ride quality or stability? Are there any specific kits or upgrades that you would recommend over others? Let's discuss the advantages and disadvantages of suspension upgrades for our beloved 4x4s.

I've upgraded my Series I's suspension to a 4x4 kit with decent results. However, it seemed to alter the vehicle's handling slightly, making it less stable on pavement and more prone to oversteer when cornering. Would be interested in hearing other experiences.

I've been considering upgrading my Defender's suspension to improve on-road comfort and stability. After doing some research, I'm torn between a lift kit with coilovers and a more aggressive setup with longer travel shocks. Has anyone had experience with either of these options? What were the results in terms of handling and ride quality? Are there any other factors I should consider when deciding which path to take?

I've always been hesitant to upgrade my Defender's suspension due to concerns about maintaining the car's iconic ride quality. However, after reading through some of the threads here, I'm now considering a lift kit to improve off-road capability. The pros seem to be increased ground clearance and improved articulation, but I'm worried that it might compromise on-road handling. Has anyone else experienced this trade-off?

I've upgraded to an air lift system on my Defender and it's made a huge difference. The pros are definitely noticeable - improved load carrying capacity, better handling and reduced body roll. However, the con is that it does require some adjustments to be made when switching between standard and lifted modes. Additionally, I've found that the ride quality can become a bit harsher on rough terrain, but overall it's been worth it for me.

I've been doing my research on upgrading the suspension of my Defender and I'm still on the fence. On one hand, a lift kit with better springs and shocks would give me more ground clearance for off-roading and make the ride smoother. But on the other hand, I've heard that it can also make the car more prone to wheel damage and potentially void the warranty. I'd love to hear from others who have made this upgrade - what were your experiences? Did you notice any significant improvements or drawbacks? And did you encounter any issues with the installation process? In particular, I'm interested in hearing about any owners who have installed a kit from companies like ARB or Old Man Emu. What were their results and are they happy with the upgrade?
