Troubleshooting Common Issues with the Transfer Case

I'm having some issues with my Series III Landy's transfer case and I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems. The symptoms are a grinding or clunking noise coming from the transfer case when I engage four-wheel drive, but it seems to be working properly otherwise. I've checked the fluid level in the transfer case and it's at the recommended level, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. I've also inspected the transfer case for any signs of wear or damage, but everything looks okay. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Are there any common causes or solutions that I should look into first? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've experienced similar issues with my 2006 LR3. After replacing the transfer case bearing seal and reprogramming the TCU, I noticed a significant improvement in shifting. However, if your problem persists despite these steps, it's possible that the issue lies elsewhere. Consider checking for any signs of worn or damaged internal components, such as the gears themselves or the drive shafts, which could be contributing to the symptoms you're experiencing.

I've had some issues with my LR3's transfer case locking up under heavy load. Found out it was due to a faulty solenoid pack, replaced it and now everything works fine. Also, made sure to check the shift linkages for any play or damage as they can cause similar problems.

I've had a similar issue with my LR4's transfer case. The solution was to replace the faulty TC solenoid. Check for any signs of leakage or corrosion on the TC and surrounding components. Also, ensure proper fluid level and type in the TC.
