I've had my 2016 Kia Sorento for about 5 years now and I've been experiencing some issues with the transmission. It's a V6 model with an 8-speed automatic. At first, it was just occasional slipping out of gear when accelerating from a standstill but over time, it's become more frequent. Sometimes it gets stuck in neutral or even reverse instead of drive. I've had it to the dealership multiple times and they claim everything is fine but the problem persists. I'm starting to think this might be a widespread issue with Kia's transmissions.
I did some research online and found that several owners of various Kia models have reported similar problems, especially with the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. It seems like it might be related to the torque converter or the transmission control module.

I've owned two Kias and both had transmission problems. My 2013 Optima's automatic transmission failed at 60k miles and my current 2020 Sorento's CVT is slipping at 20k miles. Research suggests the issues are widespread with Kia's dual-clutch and CVT transmissions.

I've owned a few Kias and have experienced the same transmission issues in all of them. The most common problems I've seen include slipping or hesitation when shifting into higher gears, and sudden drops to lower gears while cruising at moderate speeds.

After researching various forums and owner reviews, it seems that the most common issues with Kia's transmissions are slipping or hesitation between gears, failure to engage gears properly, and excessive noise or vibration, often related to worn-out clutch packs.

Based on various reports and owner experiences, some of the most common issues with Kia's transmissions include slipping or hesitation when shifting, uneven gear engagement, and faulty solenoids leading to excessive wear on transmission components.
