I've been using my '07 Wrangler for years and I just had my engine blown due to neglecting the maintenance schedule.
A well-maintained vehicle is not only safer but also runs smoother. Here's a suggested checklist based on the owner's manual:
* Oil changes every 5,000 miles
* Tire rotation every 3,000-6,000 miles
* Brake pads inspected and replaced every 30,000-50,000 miles
* Spark plugs replaced every 30,000-100,000 miles
* Air filter replaced every 15,000-30,000 miles
I also use a maintenance app on my phone to track the due dates. It's not that hard to keep up with it, and it'll save you from expensive repairs down the line.
Some people claim that Jeeps are more reliable than other vehicles, but I've found that's not always true. Take care of your rig, and it'll take care of you.
