I'm surprised that more people aren't discussing the nuances of the 8-speed automatic in comparison to the 6-speed. I've heard some owners swear by the smoother and quieter operation of the 8-speed, while others claim it's no better than the 6-speed in terms of performance.

I've been doing some research on transmission options for Dodge vehicles and I have to say that they offer a wide range of choices depending on the model and year. From the classic A518/A596 4-speed automatic in older models like the Charger R/T to the modern 8-speed TorqueFlite in newer vehicles, Dodge has covered all bases. Personally, I've had great luck with my '07 Charger SRT8's 5-speed AutoStick transmission - it's quick-shifting and fun to drive on twisty roads. However, I know some people who swear by the smoother but less engaging 4-speed auto in their Ram trucks. What are your experiences with Dodge transmissions? Have you had any issues or do you love your current setup?

I'm surprised they didn't mention the TorqueFlite 904/727 transmission, it's an iconic choice that's still in use today. While the current generation of transmissions are more advanced, I think many enthusiasts would prefer to stick with a proven and reliable design like the old-school torque converter set-up.
