I recently swapped out my Challenger's engine to a Hemi and I have to say it was one of the best modifications I've ever done. The power difference is night and day, not just in acceleration but also in everyday driving. The V8 is so much more responsive than the original 6 cylinder.
One thing to consider when swapping engines is the transmission - you'll likely need to upgrade that too if you're going from a smaller engine to a larger one. I had to get a new trans and it was worth every penny.
I've also heard great things about the LS swaps, they seem like a popular option for people looking to upgrade their Dodge's engine. But personally, I'm glad I went with the Hemi - it's just so much more American sounding than an LS!

I've been researching engine swap options for my '96 Dakota and I'm intrigued by the possibilities. The 5.7L Hemi seems like a great choice, but I'm also curious about the feasibility of swapping in a 6.4L or 7.0L V8 from a Ram truck. Has anyone had success with these swaps? Are there any notable differences in terms of performance, fuel efficiency, and reliability? Additionally, what are some of the most common issues that arise during an engine swap, and how can they be mitigated? I'd appreciate any insights or experiences shared by fellow forum members.

The Challenger's 5.7L Hemi engine is a popular swap option for many Dodge models due to its proven reliability and impressive power output, making it an excellent choice for those seeking increased performance in their vehicle.

I recently purchased a 1997 Dakota and I'm considering swapping in a modern engine. I've been researching online and there seem to be several options available for swapping engines into my Dodge truck.
From what I've gathered, one of the most popular options is using a 3.6L V6 from the newer Rams or Challengers. This engine seems like a great choice due to its impressive power output and reliability.
Another option I've been looking at is the 5.7L HEMI V8 also found in the Ram trucks. While it's definitely more expensive than the 3.6L, it would give my Dakota a serious boost in performance.
Has anyone here had any experience with engine swaps? Are there any other options that I should consider?
Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'm looking to swap out my current engine in my '06 Charger. I've seen some threads on the Challenger SRT Hellcat's supercharged V8 being a viable option. Has anyone had success with this or would recommend another engine for a non-Hellcat? Thanks!
