Range Anxiety with the BYD e3: Does it Live Up to Expectations?

I recently took delivery of a BYD e3 and while I'm enjoying it overall, I've been experiencing some range anxiety. My daily commute is about 40 miles round trip, which leaves me with limited juice to spare. Has anyone else encountered this issue? How do you charge your e3 on long trips or in areas with limited charging options?
