I've been owning my E90 325i for over 5 years now and I have to say that regular maintenance has been key in keeping it running smoothly. The car is now at 120k miles and aside from some minor issues with the sunroof, everything seems to be working as it should.
I recently replaced the timing chain and water pump on my own, following a detailed guide found online. It was a bit of a challenge but I managed to get it done without any major issues. The total cost came out to be around $800 in parts and tools, which is not bad considering what a dealership would have charged.
One thing that really surprised me was how easy it was to access the timing chain and water pump once you remove the engine cover and intake manifold. It's definitely a job for someone with some mechanical aptitude but if you're willing to put in the time and effort, it can be done.

I've owned my E90 328i for over 5 years now and have to say that maintenance costs are relatively high compared to other brands. However, the reliability of the car has been excellent with no major issues. I've had some minor problems with the headlight assembly and a faulty oxygen sensor but nothing too serious. The BMW dealership was also very transparent about the costs and provided me with detailed estimates before starting any work. Overall, I'm happy with my choice but would advise others to factor in higher maintenance costs when considering a BMW purchase.

I've been owning my E90 335i for about 5 years now, and I have to say that maintenance has been relatively straightforward. However, when it comes to repairs, I've encountered a few issues that are worth mentioning.
Firstly, the VANOS system can be quite finicky, especially around 60k miles mark. I've had to replace both intake and exhaust VANOS solenoids, which was a bit of a pain but not too expensive (around $500 for both parts).
Additionally, the DSC system has given me some grief in the past. The rear DSC unit went out at around 80k miles, which required a complete replacement (costing around $1,200).

I recently had my 2015 M3 in for routine maintenance at an independent shop and was blown away by their attention to detail. The mechanic not only performed all the scheduled work but also noticed a small issue with one of the calipers that would have gone unnoticed otherwise. I've been doing some research on DIY brake pad replacements and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good online resources or tools? Specifically, I'm looking for a good guide on how to properly torque the brake pads in place without over-tightening them.

I recently had my 2015 328i in for routine maintenance at a local shop. They suggested replacing the timing chain due to its age, even though I'd had it serviced every 12k miles since new. Has anyone else been told this by their dealership? It's going to cost around $2k, which seems excessive to me considering the car still has warranty left on most components. Am I being too cautious or should I listen to the mechanic's advice?

I've been having some issues with my BMW E90's oil consumption and have found that cleaning the PCV valve has made a significant difference in reducing it. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of any other potential solutions?

I've had my E90 M3 for over 8 years now and I can attest that regular maintenance is key to keeping it running smoothly. I change the oil every 5k miles and replace the spark plugs at 70k miles. I also make sure to keep an eye on the S63 engine's coolant levels and condition, as this seems to be a common point of failure in these cars. Overall, with proper care and attention, my M3 has remained a reliable daily driver and still provides plenty of excitement on twisty roads!

I've recently experienced a minor issue with my 2015 BMW X3's engine oil consumption and was able to resolve it by replacing the PCV valve and cleaning the valve cover. This simple repair saved me around $500 in premature oil changes.

I've been using synthetic oil in my E90 since it was new and I've noticed a significant reduction in engine noise and vibration issues that were present with the factory-recommended conventional oil.

I recently had my 2015 M3 serviced at an authorized dealer and was shocked by the price. The service advisor told me that the oil change alone would cost over $300 due to the high-performance oil required for the vehicle. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just a result of BMW's reputation for being expensive?

I've had my E90 M3 for 5 years now and the biggest maintenance issue I've encountered is the chain tensioning which needs to be done at around 60k miles. Anyone else have this on their M series BMW? What's been your experience with it?

I've had my 2015 M3 for over 100k miles and the maintenance costs have been relatively low, averaging around $500 per year. I do oil changes every 7,500 miles, rotate tires at 12,000 mile intervals, and replace brake pads as needed. Overall very pleased with the reliability of this vehicle.

I've had my 2015 X3 for about 100k miles now and I've been doing most of the maintenance myself. I've replaced the spark plugs, oil filter, and rotors, as well as flushed the coolant system. I recently noticed some noise coming from the transmission, so I decided to take it to a local shop that specializes in BMWs.
The diagnosis was a worn clutch pack and a few worn bearings in the transaxle. The repair cost around $2k, which is relatively expensive, but I've heard horror stories about replacing the whole transmission for upwards of $5k. Has anyone else had similar issues with their X3?

I've had my E90 M3 for 5 years and done all maintenance and repairs myself. Oil changes, spark plugs, brake pads, etc. Cost me around $1k per year. Worth it for the satisfaction of doing it yourself and saving money.

I've had my 2015 BMW X5 for about 3 years now and I must say that maintenance costs have been a bit higher than expected. However, I think it's worth noting that I've always followed the recommended schedule by the dealership for oil changes, tire rotations, and other routine checks.
One thing I've learned is to be very specific when ordering parts from the dealer or online suppliers. I once ordered what I thought was a BMW-approved air filter but turned out to be a generic one. The difference in performance was noticeable and I had to replace it again with the correct one.
I also recommend using genuine BMW fluids whenever possible, especially for the transmission and differential. I've heard that some aftermarket options can cause issues down the line, so it's better to stick with what the manufacturer recommends.
Overall, while maintenance costs have been higher than expected, I think it's worth it for the performance and reliability of my X5. Has anyone else had any experiences or recommendations on maintenance and repairs for their BMW?

I've had my BMW E90 for over 100k miles and it still runs like new. The key to keeping it running smoothly is regular oil changes every 5k miles and using high-quality synthetic oil. I also recommend changing the spark plugs every 30k miles to prevent misfires and poor fuel efficiency. Additionally, make sure to flush the coolant system every 50k miles to prevent corrosion in the engine. By following these simple maintenance tips, you can extend the life of your BMW and keep it running like new for many years to come.

I've recently done a timing chain replacement on my E46 M3 and I have to say it was a bit of a challenge. The instructions that came with the kit were not very clear and I had to do some research online to figure out how to properly align the new chain. But overall, the job wasn't too difficult and the car is running smoothly now. Has anyone else done this job on their E46? What was your experience like?

I've owned my E46 M3 for over 5 years now and I can attest to the importance of regular maintenance. It's amazing how many people neglect their oil changes and other routine services, only to be surprised when something major goes wrong.
For those who may not know, it's recommended to change your oil every 10k miles or so, depending on driving conditions. I've been doing this every 5k just to be safe, and it's made a huge difference in the overall health of my car.
In addition to regular oil changes, I also make sure to keep up with my spark plug replacements (every 30k miles) and valve clearances (every 60k). It may seem like a hassle at the time, but trust me, it's worth it in the long run. A properly maintained engine will last you for many years to come.
Has anyone else had any major issues with their BMW due to neglect? I'm curious to hear about other people's experiences.

Just had my 2015 X3 serviced at the local BMW dealership. Had to replace the water pump which was leaking, also got an oil change and new air filter. Total cost came out to be around $1,200. Reasonable price considering it's a BMW.

I've had my E90 328i for over 100k miles now and I'm impressed with how well the oil consumption has held up after a PCV system upgrade and regular oil changes. However, the VANOS solenoids still needed to be replaced around 80k miles, as expected.

I recently had to replace the water pump on my E90 330i and I was surprised by how accessible it was. The repair manual I used said it would take around 6 hours but I completed it in under 3 with some basic tools and knowledge. I think BMW really has designed these cars well for DIY maintenance, it's definitely worth learning about if you're a car enthusiast.

I've had my E90 M3 for 5 years now and have done all maintenance myself, changed the oil every 5k miles, replaced the air filter every 15k and done a few minor repairs such as replacing the rear brake pads. Still running strong with over 100k miles on it.

I've recently purchased my first BMW (E90 M3) and I'm trying to get up to speed on maintenance and repair procedures. My mechanic recommended a timing chain replacement at around 100k miles, but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences or recommendations for this particular model. I've read that the tensioners can be prone to failure due to heat-related issues, and some owners have reported excessive engine noise or vibration after the job. Has anyone here gone through this process with their E90? If so, what were your experiences like?

I change the oil every 15k miles, and replace the air filter every 30k miles. I also make sure to inspect the brake pads and rotors regularly. The only major repair I've had to do was replace the water pump at 120k miles, which was a relatively straightforward process. Overall, I'm impressed with how reliable my M3 has been, but it's clear that some owners have neglected maintenance, leading to more costly repairs later on.
