What's the best way to clean the aluminum trim without leaving scratches?

I'm trying to clean the aluminum trim on my E90 without scratching it. I've used different products and methods but some leave behind minor marks or require too much elbow grease. Wondering what others have tried and if there's a foolproof way to keep it looking new, without breaking out the toothbrush and soap.
