Experiencing strange vibrations while driving, could it be related to the exhaust system?

I've been experiencing strange vibrations while driving my BMW 328i, and I'm wondering if it could be related to the exhaust system. The vibrations seem to be most noticeable around 4,000-5,000 RPM and are particularly pronounced when I accelerate quickly or am cruising on the highway. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
