Just got a quote for a new exhaust system, is it worth the $1,500?

Just got a quote for a new exhaust system and I'm not sure if it's worth the $1,500 price tag. System includes high-flow catalytic converter, downpipe, and muffler with improved sound and performance. Has anyone else installed similar setup on their BMW? Is this a worthwhile upgrade or is there something better out there?
