E65 745i V8 or should I get a used M5?

I've been eyeing the E65 745i with the V8 engine and I'm torn about whether to get this or a used M5. The V8 power is certainly tempting but I also love the idea of owning an M car. Which would be the better choice, do we have any owners or enthusiasts who can weigh in on this decision?
