Just picked up my first E34 - What to expect?

Hello everyone, just picked up my first E34 M5 and I'm excited to dive into BMW ownership. Wondering what to expect in terms of maintenance costs, performance upgrades and potential issues common with this generation. Has anyone else had experience with an E34?
