The BMW 1 Series F20/F21 was produced in a variety of trim levels, including the base model, Sport Line, M Sport, and Edition.
The F20 platform also formed the basis for the BMW Active Tourer (F45) and the MINI Countryman (R56).
In 2015, BMW released a facelifted version of the 1 Series, denoted as the F20/F21 Facelift.

In the UK, a 'Sport Line' model was available from 2012 which featured unique bumpers, side sills and interior trim in Dark Graphite finish.
An 'Edtion' model with additional equipment like Xenon headlights, LED foglights and Dakota leather upholstery was also produced for the UK market.
The facelifted model received a range of improvements including revised front and rear bumper designs and new LED headlights.
The engine options on later models included a range of petrol engines including a 136bhp N20 turbocharged unit, a 184bhp B48 inline-4 cylinder engine and the option for an M135i with a 306bhp B58 engine.
Diesel options were available in the form of a 115bhp three-cylinder engine and a more powerful 148bhp version of the same engine.
Later models featured adaptive LED headlights with glare-free high beam, auto dip function and dynamic cornering light function.
The F20/F21 had a top speed electronically limited to 149mph for some trim levels.
